We will begin our season with the classic holiday tale,” The Nutcracker”, that has been told through the most famous ballet in history for hundreds of years. It is through the reimagining of this story that ballet companies across the nation have brought brilliant innovation and context that continues to inspire and excite new audiences every year. Join us this year, along with guest artists from Ballet Austin, as we explore this story from a fresh perspective and get transported to a faraway land set against the beautiful music of Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker”. Performances start November 30 and run through December 2 at the Boyd Vance Theater.
Throughout time, dance has always been a reflection of the social, political, and economic shifts of a people. The second performance of the season will explore key moments that brought about some of history’s most prolific composers and choreographers. Including special performances that feature the students of the academy, the performance will include excerpts from classical ballets and popular moments from Broadway shows. The performances will be on April 12-13 at the Boyd Vance Theater. This season’s Spring Repertory will have something for everyone.
This season’s Ballet Under the Stars will feature the music of Ludwig Minkus. He is most well-known for his ballets Don Quixote and La Bayadère that have defined the art form of classical ballet through their strong and dynamic characters. Enjoy an evening with our artists as they exhibit beautiful artistry and unmatchable virtuosity. We will also be joined by guest artists from Ballet Austin and Ballet San Antonio. Additionally, the audience will also enjoy original debut works created by our artists. Join us just before sunset on May 31 and June 1 at the Zilker Hillside Theater.
